Paul O’Loughlin – Managing Director
Paul O'Loughlin has more than twenty five years' experience in recruitment and search throughout Australia and internationally. Paul joined Slade Consulting in 1985, working with Andrew Banks just prior to Andrew departing to establish his own company with Geoff Morgan. Paul subsequently joined a new boutique recruitment firm, specialising in accounting recruitment. He headed up the temporary services division and assisted in forging the business to becoming a leading middle market operation.
In 1988 Paul was approached by Morgan & Banks to join the Sydney accounting recruitment team and over a period of five years became recognised as one of Sydney’s leading search and selection consultants. His commercial client base was broad and his time in Sydney was marked with many signature placements. Paul was subsequently transferred to the Brisbane office of Morgan & Banks and was later promoted to State Director. He was charged with building the profile and market dominance of the firm, resulting in Morgan & Banks becoming clear market leaders.
After almost 12 years with the firm, Paul left Morgan & Banks and, together with a small team of colleagues, established Hamilton James and Bruce in Brisbane. Within 18 months Hamilton James and Bruce was recognised as a formidable competitor to Morgan & Banks and was rated only second behind it in advertising profile within the Brisbane marketplace.
With an enviable track record in professional recruitment and business development, Paul was well resourced to establish O’Loughlin Executive Search in 2001. He is recognised as one of Brisbane’s leading recruiters, and probably it’s most experienced in recruiting difficult, sensitive or politically challenging assignments.
Nicholas Baumgart – Recruitment Consultant
Nicholas joins The O’Loughlin Group with a wealth of experience in the Real Estate and Hospitality industries. Having worked in both of these areas at a management level, Nicholas understands the importance of hiring staff members who are both technically capable and an accurate cultural fit, and the positive impact that this can have on any business.
Nicholas has experienced the effects of changing market conditions first hand and realises the importance of adapting recruitment strategies to suit current market trends. As such, Nicholas places emphasis on tailoring recruitment strategies to each individual client and the current climate of the employment market. This attitude has seen Nicholas combine innovative concepts and ideas to ensure he always places the ‘right candidate’ in the ‘right job’.
A high profile in digital and print media has also ensured that Nicholas’ clients receive maximum exposure, reaching a larger database of potential candidates. Peter Tobin – Recruitment Consultant

Our specialist legal & executive recruiter is Peter Tobin. Peter is a lawyer and a notary public. He has also been Honorary Consul of Norway (Qld) since 1998. In 2011 Peter was appointed Dean of the Consular Corps Qld. In addition to his legal qualifications, Peter also holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance.
Peter is dedicated, personable and outgoing. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the law in Queensland having founded Tobin Lawyers, now known as Tobin King Lateef Solicitors, in Brisbane. Peter grew the legal practice from a start-up to a successful CBD boutique legal firm. He represented a wide range of clients that included publicly listed companies, large insurance companies, trading banks and SMEs. Highly motivated, Peter has a perfect background to assist lawyers in finding
the right position and legal firms looking for the right candidate.

Margot McQueen – Operations ManagerBEcon, GradDipBus (ProfAcctg)
Margot oversees the general operations of the business, including financial, strategic and office management.
Margot has been involved in the financial administration of The O’Loughlin Group since 2004. She has a comprehensive knowledge of the financial and administrative processes of the recruitment industry and understands its cycles in relation to economic fluctuations. Margot has an undergraduate degree in economics and a postgraduate qualification in accounting.
Margot’s experience in managing financial operations and processes extends across a wide variety of industries including retail, legal, accountancy, non-bank lending, hospitality, medical/dental/veterinary, building, property development, real estate, advertising, architecture and film production.
Liz Morris – Candidate Manager

Working alongside our Director, Paul O'Loughlin, Liz joined The O'Loughlin Group to implement new candidate management, recruitment and marketing systems. Liz delivers a service to candidates which effectively creates positive outcomes for both parties. This is paramount in developing strong branding and successful relationships.
Utilising her extensive knowledge in new media, marketing methods, and recruitment, Liz is dedicated to providing The O'Loughlin Group with a public exposure that will in turn grant long-term business success. Further refining her skills, Liz has taken on the role of Research Analyst for The O'Loughlin Group, providing clients with organisation mappings, research blasts and industry reports. Liz prides herself on developing positive relationships with clients, taking every measure to exceed service expectations. |
